Overview:
JobTread is our construction software that we primarily use to operate our daily operations of our construction process. With this blog, learn how KQ Construction uses JobTread to give homeowners access to their project documents, selections, pricing, payments, communication, progress logs, photos, and upcoming schedule items—all in one place.
Communication is one of the most important parts of a successful construction project. Homeowners should not have to search through text messages, emails, and paperwork to understand what has been approved, what has been paid, what is happening next, or what decisions still need to be made. Every customer receives a free user account that gives them access to their project information throughout the construction process.
Our goal is simple: give the customer full transparency so they can stay informed and confident from the beginning of the project through completion.

What is JobTread?
JobTread is the construction management system we use to organize our projects. It allows our office, field team, subcontractors, and customers to work from the same current information.
For the homeowner, JobTread acts as a central project portal. Instead of important information being scattered across different places, the customer can log in and review the documents, messages, financial information, photos, and updates connected to their project.
There is no charge to the customer for their JobTread account.
What Can Customers Access in JobTread?
Bids and Approved Documents
Customers can access their approved bid and other project documents directly through their account. This provides a clear reference for the agreed scope of work, price, allowances, and exclusions.
When questions arise during construction, both the customer and our team can refer to the same approved information.
Selections Documents
Construction projects require many decisions. Depending on the job, homeowners may need to select flooring, tile, paint colors, plumbing fixtures, lighting, countertops, cabinets, hardware, or other finishes.
We use JobTread to provide and organize selection documents so the customer can see the choices connected to their project. Keeping these decisions documented helps the homeowner and our team stay on the same page.
Invoices and Project Financials
JobTread provides the customer with a live financial summary of the project. We break the budget into three simple categories:
- Approved Price
- Collected Amount
- Remaining Balance
This allows the homeowner to understand the financial status of the project without having to request an updated balance from our office.
Change Orders
When the customer requests additional work or the agreed scope needs to change, we document it through a change order.
JobTread allows the customer to review the description and cost of the proposed change before approving it. Once approved, the change becomes part of the project record and is reflected in the approved price.
Messaging
Project communication can quickly become confusing when information is divided between phone calls, personal text messages, and separate email conversations.
We use JobTread messaging to keep project-related communication connected to the correct job. This creates a written record that the customer and our team can refer to later and reduces the chance of an important detail being forgotten.
Uploaded Photos and Files
Customers have access to the photos and files uploaded to their project. These may include progress photos, product information, plans, documents, videos, and other useful project records.
How Often Does KQ Construction Post Project Logs?
We normally post a customer log two to three times each week if we are building a custom home or a large remodel. On smaller remodel jobs, and if the customer lives in the home, the logs will be less frequent, but still include the important information. The purpose of the log is to explain what has happened, what is coming next, and whether anything needs the customer’s attention.
Our project logs may include:
- Work that has been completed.
- Items coming up on the schedule.
- Change-order items.
- Selections, decisions, or other items the customer needs to complete.
- Issues or unexpected conditions that arise.
- Progress photos and videos from the job site
Forecasting upcoming work gives the homeowner a better understanding of the direction of the project.

Importance of Photo & Video Documentation
Photos and videos do more than show progress. They create valuable documentation of the home while different parts of the structure are exposed.
Before insulation and drywall cover the walls, we document the location of all plumbing lines, electrical wiring, framing, blocking/backing, and other components. After the walls are closed, those photos and videos can help us locate items that are no longer visible.
We use this documentation in the field all the time. If we need to know where a pipe, wire, or framing member may be located behind the drywall, the project photos can provide information without immediately opening the wall.
The homeowner can also return to these records when planning future improvements, repairs, or installations.
The Benefits of JobTread for the Customer
1. Full Project Transparency
Customers can see approved documents, financial information, communication, photos, and project updates. They do not have to wonder what information the contractor has or whether they are looking at the current version.
2. One Place for Project Information
Important details remain connected to the project instead of being spread across text messages, emails, paper documents, and photo albums.
3. Clear Financial Information
The approved price, collected amount, and remaining balance give the homeowner a simple view of where the project stands financially.
4. Better Communication and Planning
Regular logs explain completed work and upcoming schedule items. This helps the homeowner know what to expect and what decisions may be needed next.
5. A Documented Project History
Messages, approvals, change orders, photos, videos, and logs create a useful record of the project. This documentation can answer questions during construction and remain valuable after the work is complete.
